PVA#120-30-01-030-00 Property Maintenance

A status report was given by Mr. Burke on both Cecil McFarland and Troy Monhollen. Mr. Burke stated that both buildings are dilapidated and need to be torn down. Neither party has the money to tear these buildings down and have repeatedly tried to get someone, but have been unsuccessful in getting an affordable demolition crew.
Mr. Burke suggested the board extend the citation another thirty days giving him ample time to explain to the owners what will happen if nothing has been done by the end of the 30 day extension. If the property is not demolished by the end of the extension, he will have the structure demolished and a lien put on the property.
Both buildings are vacant and no one has been living in either building for years. Mr. Burke explained that Cecil McFarland's, grandson was tearing it down and fell. Injuries would not allow him to finish the demolition.
Mr. White stated that the Monhollen property was overgrown and the structure could not be seen from the road. Mr. Burke explained it had been empty for some time now and required demolition.
Mr. Burke asked the Board to give each property owner an extension until he can contact them. Mr. Knuckles asked what the point was in giving them another extension. Mr. Burke explained he would like to at least wait until after the holidays and then if nothing has been done he will have them torn down and put a lien on the property.
