What jurisdiction do I reside
in?
Answer ~ If you are in the corporate limits
of the City of Corbin, you will fall under the Corbin Police Department's
jurisdiction. You can reach us at 528-1122 for non-emergency
assistance or 911 for emergency situations. If you
are not in the city limits, you will have to rely on the Kentucky

What number would I use
when it is not an emergency?
Answer ~ For non-emergency situations,
please contact us at
528-1122. Please leave the 911 line open for true emergencies.
It could be the difference between life or death for someone in
a true emergency situation. |
When the power is out, should
I call the police department?
Answer ~ The City Utilities Commission
handles all power outages. The City Utilities Commission is
separate from the City of Corbin. For problems with electric
or water service, contact the City Utilities Commission at 528-4026
(8:00AM to 4:30PM - Monday thru Friday). For emergencies after hours,
contact the Police Department at 528-1122. |
When someone is in jail,
can I call and find out how they are?
Answer ~ The Corbin Police Department
does not house prisoners. You would need to call the jail in the
county that they were arrested in.

Should I call the police
department for school closings?
Answer ~ No. The school systems
do not consult us in their decision to cancel classes. We
have no way of knowing if school is closed other than listening
to the radio broadcast and usually we are too busy to do that when
road conditions are hazardous. Please listen to your radio
and keep our phone lines open for emergency calls. |
|
Should I call the Police Department
to find out how the roads are?
Answer ~ No. The best advice we can
give you is to look outside. Make your decision based upon
what you see and how much you really need to go somewhere.
We have no choice but to be out, no matter what the conditions
are. Please do not make our job anymore difficult or dangerous
than it already is when road conditions are hazardous.
